Harvard University’s Institute of Politics has added Washington firepower to its new board.

Ken Duberstein, top lobbyist and former chief of staff to President Ronald Reagan, was appointed chairman to the institute and five experienced political insiders will serve on the senior advisory committee.

“I am very pleased to serve in this new role on the Senior Advisory Committee of Harvard’s Institute of Politics, an organization that I have been privileged to work with for nearly two decades,” Duberstein said in a statement Friday.

“As the polarization of today’s Washington, D.C. continues to sour youth on politics, the aim of the Institute – to inspire the next generation to serve – has never been more important," Duberstein continued, who also heads the lobbying firm Duberstein Group.

"I look forward to joining with this bipartisan group of new Committee members and helping the IOP’s staff and students achieve this critical goal,” he continued.

New members joining the board include former lawmakers Susan Molinari (R-N.Y.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine). Molinari now leads Google's public policy and government affairs team as vice president and Snowe serves as a senior fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center. Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy III (D-Mass.), Ron Fournier of National Journal and former Miami Mayor Manny Diaz were also appointed.
