Planned Parenthood's Cecile Richards: Women Need Abortions for Valentine’s Day
by Robert Wilde 13 Feb 2014, 2:15 PM PDT
For most women Valentine’s day invokes feelings of romance and expressions of love. However, for Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, men can skip the chocolates, the back rubs and the flowers, because what women really need most for Valentine’s day is a “safe abortion.”

In a global Internet search of the varied customs of Valentine’s day expressions of love, there were zero mentions of other abortion traditions. It appears that Ms. Richards can safely claim that she is the seminal inspiration for the “avant-garde” concept that having an abortion is a value to be shared on Valentine’s day. Pro-life advocates might not be ready to wish her congratulations.

Planned Parenthood is the largest provider and promoter of abortion in the US. In 2012, the organization provided over 327,000 abortion procedures while referring only 2,197 for adoption services. The Planned Parenthood President sarcastically claims, in her Valentine tweet, that providing an abortion is “really radical” stuff; the sarcasm here suggests that it really isn’t. Data shows that since 1970, Planned Parenthood has performed at least 5.3 million abortions. Indeed, some people may find this type of statistic quite radical.
