Donald Trump is reportedly slated to meet with Henry Kissinger this week as the presumptive GOP presidential nominee looks to burnish his foreign policy bona fides.

Trump will meet with the 92-year-old former secretary of State and national security adviser on Wednesday in New York, according to a report from The Washington Post.

The meeting, according to the newspaper, comes after weeks of phone calls between Trump and Kissinger, who served as an adviser to Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.

Trump has reached out to others after outlining his "America first" approach to world affairs during a speech in Washington last month where he derided the "false song of globalism."

Last week, the businessman met with James Baker, who served as secretary of State in the George H.W. Bush administration, during Trump's swing through Washington meeting GOP leaders.

The pair met hours after Baker criticized some of Trump's foreign policy proposals, such as his call to scale down America's involvement in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
